Bano is a Norwegian developer, manufacturer, and supplier of functional bathroom solutions. The solution is tailored for use in care homes, nursing homes, hospitals, and private residences.

Every year, we design and produce approximately 4000 bathrooms. As part of this, we have also developed a turnable toilet, Bano turnable toilet, which makes it possible to create HC-bathrooms in spaces as small as four-square meters. This is a possible development in many ways.

Reduced construction costs

There are two main reasons why the toilet is cost-effective. Firstly, bathrooms can now be designed with fewer square meters. This reduces construction costs for new-built projects while also addressing the challenge of limited space in existing buildings. By installing the Bano Turnable Toilet, less space is needed.

Traditional handicap bathrooms require a significant amount of space due to the requirement of space on both sides of the toilet, for example, to allow wheelchair turning or for caregivers to assist. In contrast, the turning toilet can be turned to the needed side, allowing the wheelchair and caregiver to easily access. This eliminates the need for as much space on the sides of the toilet, only requiring space in front. The ability to turn the toilet allows the sink and shower to be place much closer. Additionally, the Bano toilet is the only toilet with an electrical lift and lower function that is showerproof, making it safe to place close to the shower.

Reduced cost with reduced injuries

Traditional handicap bathrooms are large spaces that require multiple transfers for the users while providing few support points. This increases the risk of injuries for the users and the need for heavy lifting for caregivers. The other main reason why the Bano toilet is cost-saving is therefor that it reduces the number of transfers. Reduced transfers typically means reduced injuries. Read more about that here! Most injuries in the bathroom occur during transfers, both for patients and nursing staff.

Caregivers must perform heavy lifting and work in awkward angles to assist patients with daily activities in traditional handicap bathrooms, leading to wear and tear, injuries, and sick leave. The turning toilet provides caregivers with the opportunity for better and more varied working positions. They have better access and better collaboration with users, resulting in fewer straining moments during work and reduced workloads. A more comfortable workday will lead to lower absence – which is of course cost-saving.

There is strong reason to believe that all the positive impacts of the Bano Turnable Toilet will increase the well-being and health of caregivers, thus reducing turnover as well. This is yet another potential cost-saving as it is expensive to constantly hire new staff.

Finally, the most obvious advantage of the Bano Turnable Toilet is that it reduces the need for personnel as patients become more independent. And nothing is better than that, for all involved parties.
